00RhinoHorn summary

Horn Rhino (RhinoHorn by Takara Tomy) is a 32.5 g BX Blade, released in Japan on November 2, 2023.

RhinoHorn is not the mighty rhinoceros you might expect, but more like a rock: on its own it won’t do much, but if you crash into it—or throw it with full force—it can hurt. It’s one of the hardest Beys to master, but impossible to hate… especially because of its adorable owner, who makes you wish it were more consistent so you could run it without so much fear.

01Mythology

It is based on a rhinoceros, one of the strongest land animals on the planet. Despite its clumsy look, it can run over 30 mph, and its horn can pierce wood or thin steel with ease.

02Description

It is divided into four prominent segments, each representing a rhino horn. It is one of the smallest and thickest Blades, with a poorly aerodynamic design that gives it low-mid stamina and a light weight.

03Performance

Its segmented shape creates brutal recoil, and being so small and light, it lacks the mass and inertia needed to absorb it, causing it to lose a large amount of energy on every hit.

Stamina battles with little movement are its worst nightmare, since the best way to use its potential is with strong momentum involved—either from itself or the opponent. Its best win conditions happen when the rival crashes into it or when it goes for full-speed impacts.

It will inevitably suffer heavily from its recoil, but at least it will try to take the opponent down with it.

Overall, it needs stabilization and a bit more weight to partially cover its flaws, so low heights and heavy Ratchets benefit it a lot.

Its small size makes landing hits harder, since it covers very little stadium space, which can hurt aggressive strategies. On the other hand, overly aggressive Bits will make it lose accuracy and control, so it’s better to go with a more stable Bit that lets you launch hard without losing aim.

Even when waiting for the opponent’s impact, it is still an easy target for knockouts.

04Ways to use it

Smash Attack

Accept the recoil and launch it at full speed to look for a decisive hit.

Counter Defense

With a stable combo and a stationary Bit, launch with everything you’ve got and collide head-on, using its solidity like a wall.

05Base combo

RhinoHorn 3-80S

Way too tall and paired with a low-grip Bit, making it easy to knock out. It lacks traction to withstand impacts and fails to use its aggressive design. At best, it might bounce, but the parts do not favor it at all.

06Combos

1
RhinoHorn 7-60R

Gains stability and control, allowing powerful launches without losing precision.

2
RhinoHorn 7-60LO

The low height and the Ratchet’s stability put it in an excellent position to take hits and send them back with force. Launch it with everything!
