00Yell Kong summary

Yell Kong is a 31.1 g BX Blade, released in August 2024.

Yell Kong is a very well-achieved variant of WyvernGale: it preserves its base idea but boosts its defensive profile until it creates its own identity that doesn't seek to surpass the original mold, but to shine by its own essence. From its base combo, it already offers a remarkable performance, and maybe you'll be lucky that, just like us and other friends, your 3-60 Ratchet fits super tight and becomes a part that greatly improves many combos easy to burst.

It is surprising that a Japanese version doesn't exist yet, because it is a re-mold that really brings something different. Besides, the orangutan design is very cute. Without a doubt, it is a Blade worth having.

01Mythology

It is based on an orangutan, one of the most intelligent primates in the world. Native to Southeast Asia, they stand out for their great arm strength and their ability to move through trees with calculated and efficient movements.

02Description

It is a re-mold of WyvernGale. Although visually it looks very different, it maintains the same wavy structural base with several important changes:

  • > The upper hooks that started from the center in WyvernGale disappear; now only the standard central triangles remain, which do not protrude or interfere directly with impacts.
  • > It retains the side undulations, but its entire periphery is notably thinner.
  • > The design incorporates the face and hands of the orangutan.
  • > It no longer features the four large gaps of the original mold, but only two much smaller ones.
  • > It is approximately 1 gram lighter than WyvernGale.

03Performance

Despite such a marked visual change, it essentially retains the virtues of Wyvern, but oriented even more toward defense. By being thinner and eliminating the upper hooks, it acquires a smoother and more efficient shape to deflect impacts, mega reducing the possible recoil. Above all, being so thin and smooth, the rival's impacts will drain very little energy from it. So, although its stamina is not among the best, it preserves it efficiently during battle. It also becomes difficult to push because its contact area is so minimal, making it harder to knock out than Wyvern, even with its lower weight.

The side undulations continue to fulfill their destabilizing function, and thanks to its reduced thickness, it can easily reach the lower part of rivals, an effect that is more noticeable when it carries movement momentum. Perhaps it loses the potential to land surprise hits by lacking Wyvern's hooks, but in exchange, it gains a fairly remarkable defensive consistency even against current competitive attack Beys. It has the extra benefit of being a great anti-equalizer against left-spins thanks to its lightness and thinness.

Its greatest weakness is purely stamina Beys, as it falls short in spin time by comparison. However, with some momentum, it can seek to use its destabilizing potential to try and wear them down or knock them out.

04Ways to use it

Shield Defense

In low and more stationary configurations, allowing controlled tilts to deflect impacts effectively.

Mobile Defense

With semi-aggressive Bits that allow it to move around the stadium. This way it can dodge, deflect, and at the same time, take advantage of momentum to power up its destabilizing capacity.

05Combos

1
Yell Kong 9-60E

A very pleasant Mobile Defense to use. It moves smoothly, forcing aggressive rivals to work extra hard to knock it out, while maintaining options to pressure stationary rivals. Plus, it has a very good probability of winning the final spin against left-spin Beys.

2
Yell Kong 9-60B

A more stationary configuration, but versatile thanks to the initial movement of Ball and the tilts it allows.

Why does it work this way? Blader's Path explains it step by step: Bey physics, how to build combos and how to test them. See the book
