00ViperTail summary
Tail Viper (ViperTail by Takara Tomy) is a 34.4 g BX Blade, released in Japan on October 7, 2023.
ViperTail is subtle but dangerous. It can go unnoticed, but one mistake is enough for its venom to drain the opponent’s energy. It doesn’t chase flash or spotlight moments—its goal is simple: hit nonstop until the opponent stops spinning.
01Mythology
It is based on a viper, one of the fastest striking predators out there, capable of delivering a bite in under 0.3 seconds. Depending on the species, its venom can paralyze or break down tissue in just minutes.
02Description
Its shape hides three vipers, with their heads emerging from the central triangles, while their bodies intertwine in a zigzag pattern that creates six angled divisions. These create very pronounced irregularities both on the top and bottom; the longer ones include a small lower hook.
From the side, the top has a slight concave shape. It is a mid-weight Blade with medium stamina, giving it solid versatility between Flurry Attack and Shield Defense.
03Performance
The concave shape allows it to deflect hits when launched on an angle, and its upper reliefs create constant wear on the opponent, especially in low-height combos. Its underside produces a similar wear effect when attacking from above, keeping pressure from both sides.
Whether it strikes from below or above, the wear-down effect is always present, especially if it maintains continuous movement with semi-aggressive momentum. While its stamina is not amazing, a strong and well-balanced launch can put solid stamina Beys in trouble.
Mid-height Ratchets and Bits that allow tilting are ideal to take advantage of its dual offensive and defensive nature. That said, its shape leaves the Ratchet exposed, so you need to be careful when choosing one to avoid turning it into a weak point.
Even though its underside looks ideal for tall combos, its mid weight makes it vulnerable against heavier opponents, and the exposed Ratchet increases the risk of a burst. On top of that, it struggles against stamina-focused Beys due to its naturally average spin time.
04Ways to use it
On round Bits, low heights, and with a solid tilt, it can reflect attacks while draining the opponent’s energy.
On semi-aggressive Bits, chase the opponent and keep constant pressure until their stamina runs out.
05Base combo

While Orb offers good stamina, the 80 height makes it easy to knock out and prevents it from fully using its defensive shape. On top of that, the 5 Ratchet has noticeable recoil that wastes energy on impact. Back then, it was more sought after for Orb’s stamina value than for the combo’s overall performance.
06Combos
The 3 Ratchet gives better alignment with less recoil, and Unite adds mobility and stamina to maintain constant wear-down pressure.
The 6 Ratchet complements the shape, while Hexa allows an initial tilt to reflect early hits, then settles into stability to take full advantage of its wear-down potential.
