00WizardArrow summary

Arrow Wizard (WizardArrow by Takara Tomy) is a 31.9 g BX Blade, released in Japan on July 15, 2023.

It may not be the most popular wizard at the party, but it still has a few tricks up its sleeve that can surprise anyone who underestimates it. Without a doubt, it lacks the tools for consistent competitive play—especially against stamina types—but against aggressive Beys it can still hold its ground, which is impressive for a Bey whose tricks come straight from day one of the generation.

01Mythology

It represents a wizard archer. The word “Wizard” comes from “Wise,” meaning wisdom. Mages were considered beings of great knowledge and, in some eras and regions, even healing abilities—though this varies depending on the time and culture.

02Description

It is formed by two main sides that symbolize its bows, and between them are two edges that simulate arrows. In theory, its openings aim to send the weight toward the extremes to enhance spin time, but in practice it ends up with average stamina since it is light and has a small diameter. On the upper side it has a slight slope that can deflect opponents and even land a critical hit with the pronounced upper edge of the bow. However, being light can be counterproductive due to the recoil it generates. Fortunately, the rest of the bow is smooth, with a good ability to mitigate impacts.

03Performance

WizardArrow is limited by its low weight and small diameter, but you can still take advantage of these traits on semi-aggressive tips that allow it to tilt, deflect opponents with its upper side, and even surprise them with a sudden bow hit.

Against very irregular Beys it can easily catch and cause significant damage up to medium-weight opponents, but against heavier ones it can be risky if it lacks enough launch power to compensate for recoil.

Because of this, it benefits greatly from lowering its center of gravity and increasing stability to reduce the risk of knock-outs. Low to mid ratchets help a lot.

Leaving it exposed in the center is very dangerous. Even if you tilt it and manage to deflect an attack, it is very easy to push and knock out of the stadium. The same applies to aggressive tips: it lacks the weight and shape for consistent attacks and leaves you vulnerable near the edges. For that reason, counterattack styles are also not its strength. It will require solid launch power to face heavier opponents, so be careful when choosing a tip that maintains good control.

It’s worth noting that fully stationary stamina Beys are its worst nightmare, since it doesn’t have the spin time to outlast them nor the pushing power to knock them out.

04Ways to use it

Evasive Shield Defense

With tips like Ball that allow movement and tilt, it can both evade and deflect impacts while preserving as much stamina as possible.

05Base combo

WizardArrow 4-80B

It is too tall to truly showcase its defensive qualities, making it very easy to knock out and pairing it with a ratchet that has very pronounced protrusions, which increases recoil. Still, Ball is so good for it that it can achieve decent results. Simply lowering its height and choosing a smoother ratchet greatly improves its performance.

06Combos

1
WizardArrow 5-60E / 9-60L

A combo meant to evade or hunt for critical hits with constant movement. It gives you freedom to adjust it to your preferred style.

2
WizardArrow 7-60B

We give it stability to enhance its defensive qualities with Ball’s excellent stamina and tilt versatility, letting you use more launch power to compensate for its low weight.

Why does it work this way? Blader's Path explains it step by step: Bey physics, how to build combos and how to test them. See the book
