00SharkGill summary
Gill Shark (SharkGill by Takara Tomy) is a 29.6 g BX Blade, released in June 2025.
Sharks in this generation never cease to surprise, and SharkGill is no exception. It does not reach the level of SharkScale, but for being an additional re-mold it is worthy of applause: it manages to do the same as the original and even with greater consistency.
It demonstrates that in X not everything depends on weight. A slight adjustment in the angle and distribution can produce better results even starting from an almost identical base. This mold is clear proof that small, well-executed changes can make an important difference.
01Mythology
It is based on a shark, a marine predator with the peculiarity of having multiple rows of teeth, which can change multiple times throughout its life, reaching up to more than 30,000 in its entire lifetime.
02Description
It is a re-mold of ShelterDrake, so it shares the same structural base, although it presents relevant changes:
- > The lower part is much hollower and sends the weight more equitably toward the ends.
- > It is approximately 3 grams lighter.
- > The front of each division forms a more natural and smoothed curve, without becoming a hook.
- > The profile of its two main divisions is a very marked chamfer instead of an elongated slope.
- > The subtle reliefs represent the shark's scales.
03Performance
The general idea of the mold is maintained: To be a powerful destabilizing ramp with great defense but with some remarkable improvements.
Its two main advantages are:
- > Better weight distribution toward the ends, which gives it greater stability and better stamina.
- > A chamfer with a much more marked angle, making it easier to lift rivals and send them flying with greater consistency.
Additionally, by not having such a marked frontal hook, it presents less recoil. It might lose some wear capacity by having fewer reliefs, but it compensates with a much more functional angle to lift and destabilize opponents that do not specialize in stamina.
It is impressive how despite being 3 grams lighter, a huge difference, it achieves more consistent results than Shelter thanks to its weight distribution and the optimization of the contact angle.
In our tests, it showed a more reliable performance than ShelterDrake. Even so, it remains at a disadvantage against stationary Beys of great stamina or against super heavy Beys. All in all, it is surprising how well it can defend itself being such a light Blade.
04Ways to use it
By tilting it, it can deflect impacts with great effectiveness and act as a ramp to lift rivals. Its upper reliefs help to wear down, especially in low and stable configurations.
On semi-aggressive or aggressive Bits with good stamina, it can hunt rivals, reach Ratchets, and then evade to try to close out by stamina.
On small and easy-to-move Bits like Wedge or Orb, the bounces press it down and propel it back up, powering up its lifting capacity. It is risky but mega effective and fun.
Why does it work this way?
