00SharkScale summary

Scale Shark (SharkScale by Takara Tomy) is a 37.6 g UX Blade, released in Japan on August 9, 2025.

SharkScale is to attack what WizardRod is to stamina. Both represent the peak of design for this generation so far. Their physical structure gives them insane versatility, covering almost every natural weakness of the X system. Without exaggeration, it’s one of the most powerful attack Blades with the fewest drawbacks in the entire history of Beyblade. Its dominance at the World Championship wasn’t luck—it was the direct result of outstanding engineering. It’s hard to imagine another Blade matching this balance of power, stability, and consistency, especially considering the system’s future with CX. It’s no coincidence Meiko was introduced as a prodigy: every one of her Beys has raised the offensive standard, and SharkScale is the ultimate proof. A predator, simply perfect.

01Mythology

Based on the great white shark, whose bite can exceed 1,800 kg of pressure, enough to fracture large bones and crack thick shells like those of sea turtles. It can reach speeds of up to 56 km/h, making it one of the fastest predators in the ocean.

02Description

SharkScale is divided into two long, angled sections that evoke the streamlined body of a shark. Its most distinctive trait is that the metal sits much lower than on any other Blade in the system. The cavity where the Ratchet usually sticks out is completely covered by metal, pushing all the mass to the extremes, even more so being a UX with a fully plastic center. Its thin profile thickens toward the back, creating a highly aerodynamic Blade capable of cutting through the air with minimal drag. And while it has a slight imbalance due to more metal on one side (visible from the underside), this can be easily corrected by aligning the Ratchet, or even exploited for heavier hits if you’re willing to trade a bit of stamina.

03Performance

SharkScale is, without exaggeration, the most stable Blade in the X system so far. With such a low center of gravity, its stability is outstanding, especially paired with its heavy weight of almost 38 grams. Since the Ratchet is completely pressed by the metal when assembled, it not only gains exceptional burst resistance, but also insanely solid part cohesion. There’s literally no gap between the Blade and the Ratchet. This boosts impact power, minimizes vibration, and eliminates air drag on the lower side—almost like a Formula 1 car. It also lets it accelerate quickly and achieve more reliable launches, with effective and prolonged attack patterns on aggressive tips. It’s also worth highlighting that its aerodynamic shape reduces air friction to a minimum, allowing it to maintain speed and energy far longer than other offensive Blades. This gives it something very few attack Beys have: a long action window. It doesn’t rely on landing one or two early hits; it can apply pressure for the entire battle. On top of that, its slope is a perfect ramp. Wide and thin at the front, it can lift almost any opponent, destabilize them, drain stamina through Barrage pressure, and, when the chance appears, land Smash Attack hits with its frontal spike. Even if its edges aren’t insanely sharp and part of the front is softened by plastic, the combo of weight, angle, and stability makes its hits consistently strong. Unlike other aggressive Beys like ImpactDrake or DranBuster, which are intense but heavily dependent on early precision, SharkScale is reliable, steady, and dominant over time. It can beat any opponent without having to risk everything in the first few seconds. And as if that weren’t enough, it also shines in defense. Its stability, weight, stamina, and low recoil let it defend and counter attacks incredibly well. It can act as a tank in low combos, with huge potential to send opponents flying when they crash into it thanks to its slope, all while keeping excellent spin time. Additionally, its slightly oval shape and wide fins cause frequent rebounds in stadium pockets. This makes it very hard to fully knock out, so when it does lose, it’s more likely to give up only 1 point. That gives it more chances to come back, lose only by stamina, and aim for better point outcomes in the next battle. Where it “shines less” is in semi-aggressive or counter styles. Not because it’s bad, but because those styles don’t tap into its full potential. Semi-aggressive tips dilute its precision and make it more vulnerable to the edges, while counter tips can waste energy circling the stadium. Even then, it still performs above average. Its biggest weakness is extremely heavy top-down attacks, especially from very thick Blades, and even more so when used below height 60, where it can slam into the floor. Even in those cases, it still deals serious damage back. In essence, it’s an all-rounder that remains super dangerous even in chaotic combos.

04Ways to use it

Pure Attack

In low or mid-low combos, it works for any attack style—aggressive, erratic, or semi-aggressive. Tip choice comes down to personal preference.

Tank

Defense in all its forms (Shield, Counter Defense, and Evasive). Especially with Wedge, Ball, or Under Needle, it can defend and counter beautifully. In general, any round or sharp tip can work depending on how much movement you want. Launch it tilted and at full power to maximize early defense.

Counterattack

On counter tips it performs well, though it’s not where it shines most. It stays solid, but doesn’t unlock the same potential as pure attack or stationary defense.

05Base combo

SharkScale 4-50UF

Probably the best STOCK COMBO in the system so far. Ultra-low Ratchet, a super short flat tip, and a Blade designed to dominate at that height. Ready to compete right out of the box. It might be too low for my taste, but with a good launch it can beat anyone—an absolute beast.

06Combos

1
SharkScale 3-60LR

The combo used by Leo at the World Championship. Absolute attack. It literally devours any opponent.

2
SharkScale 9-60B

Defense with light drive. Versatile, stable, and with strong early offensive potential.

3
SharkScale 3-60UN

Extreme defensive tank. Hard to move, hard to burst, and hard to knock out.

4
SharkScale 1-70K

Erratic, chase-style combo. A hungry shark roaming the entire stadium.

5
SharkScale 3-60W

Solid counter defense. Defends, rebounds, and returns hits with great efficiency.
