00SharkEdge summary

Keel Shark (SharkEdge by Takara Tomy) is a 34.5 g BX Blade, released in Japan on September 9, 2023.

SharkEdge is as scary as the shark that inspires it: a predator that can make any opponent nervous the moment they see it. It may no longer be the king of the competitive ocean, but in precise hands, it can still make the waters shake with fear!

01Mythology

It is inspired by a shark, one of the fastest predators in the ocean, capable of swimming over 30 mph thanks to its hydrodynamic body. Its bite can apply more than 300 kilograms of pressure per square centimeter, enough to split its prey in half.

02Description

It has an oval design made up of two segments that represent the shark’s body, decorated with details that mimic its scales. Each half slopes downward into an elongated curve that ends in a sharp, strongly angled edge. It is compact, mid-weight, and has low stamina.

03Performance

Its oval shape and angled edges make it extremely offensive, capable of dealing massive damage on every hit. It specializes in fast, direct attacks, perfect for players who want quick, high-impact battles.

Its edges allow it to land precise hits on Ratchets to force explosive finishes, or latch onto the opponent’s Blade for a deadly strike—though with noticeable recoil. Its sloped shape can lift and toss the opponent into the air, making it especially effective at mid or low heights.

It is not recommended to use it with stationary or semi-aggressive Bits, as they limit its offensive potential. With such low stamina, it needs to attack from the very start and keep constant pressure to minimize recoil.

It has extremely low stamina, so accuracy is everything. If you miss, recoil will punish you fast. Heavy Beys can turn its own power against it, forcing you to launch harder, which increases the risk of losing control. Finding the sweet spot between power and stability is essential to survive.

04Ways to use it

Smash Attack

At mid height, where the edge looks for direct contact using aggressive Bits. It will suffer recoil, but the hits are brutal. You can run a Ratchet that lines up the edges to maximize power, though recoil will increase.

Upper Attack

At low heights, its slope will lift the opponent and send them flying. It keeps part of its Smash power, but with better control.

05Base combo

SharkEdge 3-60LF

It has a solid height to take advantage of its shape, and a well-aligned 3 gives it decent stability. The issue is that LF can be super aggressive and hard to control, and it has less stamina than options like F or R, which can seriously affect control and accuracy. It works, but it can still be improved.

06Combos

1
SharkEdge 9-60R

Rush offers great precision and speed, with the ideal height to take full advantage of its edges.

2
SharkEdge 7-60C

Boosts stability and grip for stronger hits. It requires careful launches, but the power increase is worth the risk.

Why does it work this way? Blader's Path explains it step by step: Bey physics, how to build combos and how to test them. See the book
