00Free Ball summary
Free Ball is a 1.9 g stamina Bit.
Orb stands out in pure stamina and Ball in versatile defense, while Free Ball offers a perfect balance between both. There is no superior version, only different approaches depending on the playstyle, so it is a super great addition to your competitive arsenal that you will have to experiment with to see if it suits you better than the other two.
01Description
A variant of Ball, with a slightly more rounded tip and a straight transition toward the gear, instead of a completely smooth curve. It is a bit smaller than Ball, although larger than Orb, and is distinguished by lacking the divisions where the Ratchet arrows normally hook.
02General properties
By cutting the sphere in half, it has less surface to tilt, so Free Ball recovers its upright posture faster than Orb when tilted. Additionally, it swings out less than Ball toward the edges and wobbles less than Orb in the final spins, so it more effectively maintains a stable position throughout the entire battle.
Regarding performance, it sits halfway between Ball and Orb in stamina, defense, and initial movement. Its biggest difference comes from its internal design without divisions that allows it to spin freely from the rest of the Bey, at least in the CX and UX models, since in the BX it continues to spin along with the Face.
In theory, by not having a direct grip with the rest of the Bey, it reduces the possibility of generating Xtreme Dashes, since the tip could slide instead of transferring the full rotation, which wouldn't trigger taking the rail. On the other hand, it could also help mitigate energy loss in case it does take it, although it is difficult to confirm the effect accurately due to the lack of an identical version with normal teeth to compare.
Even so, many competitive players prefer it for that reason, since little or much it should decrease the risk of self-KOs, bounces, or unnecessary energy loss, maintaining a balance of the benefits of two really good Bits.
