00UnicornSting summary
Sting Unicorn (UnicornSting by Takara Tomy) is a 33.2 g BX Blade, released in Japan on January 27, 2024.
UnicornSting is an elegant Bey with a noble spirit, one that doesn’t aim to dominate through raw power, but through endurance and subtle counterplay. It had its moment of glory, but today the weight of the metagame hits it hard, making it a risky competitive pick. Still, among its class, it remains a respectable rival. Its horn may not shine as brightly as before… but it still stands with the same purity.
01Mythology
It is based on the unicorn, one of the most popular creatures in European mythology. During the Middle Ages, it was believed that its horn could purify water and neutralize poisons, turning it into a symbol of purity.
02Description
It is divided into two long segments. The first is slightly thicker, with a slope that subtly rises and falls, decorated with ridges that resemble a horse’s mane. The second is thin and smooth, representing its iconic horn, with a small detail at the end that recalls a tail. Both feature a front spike that is not very exposed. It has medium weight and good stamina thanks to its aerodynamic shape.
03Performance
Its thin profile lets it cut through the air easily, moving quickly around the stadium. However, combined with its lightness, this can cause loss of control on semi-aggressive Bits, making it self-KO at times, so a purely evasive defense can be super risky. On the other hand, its slim shape and low recoil give it excellent impact absorption and energy retention, offering solid defensive performance. It can attack from below, using its ridges to generate burst wear and occasionally landing critical hits with its hidden edge, though this is not very common. It works best with rounded stationary Bits that have good stamina, allowing it to tilt and unlock its defensive, wear-based potential. It can also perform well on counter Bits, where after taking a hit it can circle the opponent to dodge or look for a surprise counter. Its medium-low weight makes it easy to push, and its aerodynamic shape makes it prone to flying out of the stadium if not well controlled. It mainly wins by stamina, point by point, so it’s common for it to lose at the very last moment if it gets sent flying due to how easy it is to KO. Against big stamina tanks like WizardRod, its wear damage is not enough to overcome them.
04Ways to use it
At mid-low heights with counter Bits, allows strong launches to absorb the initial hit and move around the opponent, aiming to dodge or counter with its hidden horn.
On stationary Bits and mid-low heights, it can tilt to tank hits or slowly wear down the opponent.
05Base combo

The Ratchet gives it solid weight and the Bit fits its playstyle well. However, the Gear drains too much energy when it gets out of control, limiting its wear potential and spin time.
06Combos
The Ratchet 1 improves stability and unlocks more stamina, allowing longer evasion. It can also be flipped to emphasize erratic movement and counterplay.
Boosts stamina and ground support, letting it defend and wear down opponents with strong endurance.
