00TyrannoRoar summary
Roar Tyranno (TyrannoRoar by Takara Tomy) is a 36 g BX Blade, released in Japan in July 2024.
Tyranno Roar is a variant clearly focused on attack. It is not negligible at all, but it does not compare to its original counterpart. While Phoenix continues to stand out even in the current meta, Roar feels like a simplified version of the mold. Unlike TyrannoBeat, which shines for its power and own style, Roar depends too much on the comparison with Phoenix.
The best summary of its place in the meta was that official Hasbro tournament where PhoenixWing was banned because it hadn't officially been released in Mexico, and many players immediately opted for Roar as a direct replacement. That speaks to both its similarity and its secondary role. Still, if you are a fan of dinosaurs or looking for a themed deck, it is a super addition alongside TyrannoBeat.
The other re-mold of Phoenix is: Spinosaurus.
01Mythology
It is based on the Tyrannosaurus rex, one of the most emblematic terrestrial predators of prehistory and science fiction, besides being one of Woody's best friends.
02Description
It is a re-mold of PhoenixWing, so it shares the same structural base, although with clear modifications that change its visual appearance quite a bit:
- > The central hooks no longer extend outward, eliminating the iconic aggressive hook of Phoenix.
- > In Phoenix, the end of each wing protrudes at the start of the next division; in Tyranno the silhouette is continuous, making its divisions look shorter and more squared.
- > The design incorporates the head and jaw of the dinosaur, reducing reliefs and leaving a smoother periphery.
- > From the side, its divisions are straighter and with less inclination.
- > It is approximately 2 grams lighter than PhoenixWing (3g compared to later releases of Phoenix that reached up to 39 g).
03Performance
At first glance, it might seem that Tyranno would hit harder because it has a more curved front; however, it is more open, so the very marked "bump" of Phoenix is by far more lethal in comparison.
In general, PhoenixWing has more effective inclinations for Upper Attack, features reliefs that favor wear for Barrage Attack, possesses better weight distribution for greater stamina, and is considerably heavier, which reduces recoil and increases stability. Because of this, Phoenix is superior in practically every category and, above all, much more versatile.
Even so, TyrannoRoar maintains an aggressive and irregular silhouette with a decent impact force that favors aggressiveness and erratic movement more, but being lighter, its recoil is slightly higher. Additionally, it loses much of the potential for Upper Attack, wear, defense, and stamina that make Phoenix so complete. In essence, it is a version focused on pure Smash Attack.
04Ways to use it
On aggressive Bits and medium heights (60/70) that allow it to impact with its entire periphery at great speed.
On Bits like Point, launching it more controlled toward the center to absorb the initial impact and then taking advantage of the Xtreme Dash to release a powerful Smash Attack.
On Bits like Kick, boosting a chaotic movement that can alter the rival's rhythm and generate impacts from unexpected angles.
05Combos
Direct classic attack, looking for fast and blunt frontal impacts.
Counterattack with good traction and acceleration. Gear Point boosts impacts and the heavier Ratchet helps reinforce the hit.
Erratic Attack where the additional weight of the 1 Ratchet reinforces impacts and favors exits from the gap, while Kick increases the chaos.
Why does it work this way?
Blader's Path explains it step by step: Bey physics, how to build combos and how to test them.
