00TriceraPress summary

Press Triceratops (TriceraPress by Takara Tomy) is a 36.6 g BX Blade, released in Japan on June 28, 2025.

TriceraPress is an easy Blade to overlook at first glance. Its Ratchet was quickly dismissed due to issues, its design is not especially flashy, and neither its beast nor its user stand out in the anime. Still, its real playstyle is a pleasant surprise.

It has clear and demanding weaknesses, but also a very specific potential that can be finely tuned. It does not guarantee wins or losses, but it creates openings that depend directly on player skill, with a fun touch of luck. This results in a neat balance between risk, control, and reward.

TriceraPress proves that the BX line still has plenty to offer, able to hold its ground even against newer lines.

01Mythology

Based on the Triceratops, a herbivorous dinosaur known for its massive bony frill and its three horns. It was huge, said to reach up to 9 meters in length and weigh as much as 12 tons.

02Description

TriceraPress is a mostly round Blade, made up of five metal sections that extend downwards. Each one represents the Triceratops’ bony frill, including detailed texture. Between these sections, slightly recessed softened plastic fragments are placed, leaving the metal clearly exposed as the main contact point.

On the top side, three extremely thick hooks stand out (a clear reference to the dinosaur’s three horns). This is where most of its weight is concentrated, placing it above the average. This single trait completely defines its battle behavior.

03Performance

The three upper hooks are both TriceraPress’ greatest strength and its biggest weakness. By concentrating so much weight at the top, its center of gravity rises a lot, causing constant wobble, over-tilting, and frequent scraping of the Ratchet against the stadium floor. This hurts its spin time and makes it surprisingly easy to lift or knock out, even with its high weight.

Trying to fix this by lowering its height is not a real solution either. Doing so leaves the hooks way too exposed, leading to massive recoil when they get hit and a huge loss of energy. They can deal serious damage to the opponent with wild rebounds, but it is super risky, making this approach unreliable for consistency. Because of this, TriceraPress does not handle over-tilting or low combos well at all.

Where it truly shines is when kept perfectly upright. This happens because the densest part of the hooks sits toward the outer edge and they are aligned in a triangular layout. This creates strong pushing force, not through direct hits, but through the centrifugal force generated around its perimeter. On top of that, when upright, the side metal ridges create heavy friction on contact, letting it push and wear down opponents with surprising effectiveness.

This makes it one of the few Blades of its generation that performs better vertically than tilted, which is pretty rare in the current meta.

Because of this, completely flat Bits are a bad match, since they need tilt to work properly, leaving TriceraPress super exposed. Launching it upright on those Bits often leads to instant self-ring-outs due to immediate Xtreme Dash. Staying close to the edges also makes it easy prey to a small shove. For the same reason, semi-aggressive and chaotic Bits do not suit it well either.

Its best partners are Bits that can fully switch between calm and aggression, like Point or Hexa. These allow it to wait for center contact, then unleash a powerful rush, and settle back down again. Similarly, small Bits like Wedge or Orb also work well, where rebounds can double the force of its hits. In short, its game plan is defend, rush, calm down, and repeat until the opponent is done.

It is also worth noting that against low-recoil stationary Beys like WizardRod or ClockMirage, it can afford a slight tilt to deal extra damage with the hooks. This gives it decent flexibility to adapt to most matchups.

04Ways to use it

Counter Attack

On Bits like Point, it alternates between full stability and sudden aggression, releasing super strong frontal rushes.

Counter Defense

On easy-rebound Bits like Wedge or Orb, it absorbs center hits and responds with a counter amplified by the rebound.

05Base combo

TriceraPress M-85BS A combo with zero synergy with the Blade. The excessive height makes it incredibly easy to lift and ring out, while the Ratchet assembly type makes it highly prone to bursting. The added weight gives no benefit, and the Bit worsens stability. This combo completely shuts down the Blade’s strengths.

06Combos

1
TriceraPress 5-60GP

An excellent combo for keeping it upright and counterattacking from that stance. The extra traction boosts its pushing power, making its rushes surprisingly violent and consistent.

2
TriceraPress 5-60W

A rebound-focused combo. It lets you take the hit, return it, then follow up with a second rush. More limited against stationary Beys, but super fun and effective versus aggressive types. It is best launched away from exit zones to reduce instant knockouts.

3
TriceraPress 5-60H

A middle ground between stability and counterattack. Hexa provides strong center support and, when it catches the rail, it can unleash heavy rushes thanks to its wide engagement.
