00SolEclipse summary

Umbra Sol (SolEclipse by Takara Tomy) is a 39.9 g CX Blade, released in Japan on September 27, 2025.

SolEclipse in Upper mode doesn't shine because of what its name promises, but because of the unpredictable heat of its impacts. It is chaotic, risky, and spectacular, like watching an eclipse without protection: fascinating, but super dangerous.

It shares similarities with FoxBrush in its erratic style, but Eclipse is more consistent thanks to its symmetry. So its peculiar ability to change modes, its attractive design, and its explosive potential make it a Bey definitely worth collecting and exploring in the stadium.

01Mythology

SolEclipse is inspired by the solar eclipse phenomenon, an astronomical event where the Moon interposes between the Sun and the Earth, totally or partially blocking sunlight and casting a shadow on our planet. It is usually interpreted as an omen of temporary chaos, before being restored.

As a tribute to SolBlaze from the Metal Fight movie, it hides a hexagon in its stamp in allusion to the Face Bolts of that era.

02Description

This review covers the part Eclipse

SolEclipse is a reversible Main Blade with two modes: Upper (red) and Smash (blue).

In its Upper mode, it is composed of five tilted segments that simulate solar flares. Each segment features three main aggressive zones:

  • > A lower front edge.
  • > A wide hook at the end of the segment, more pronounced at the bottom.
  • > Super marked upper irregularities.

Compared to other Main Blades, its weight distribution is higher to allow the mode change, so its center of gravity is even higher than the rest of the line.

03Performance

This review covers the part Eclipse

Ironically, in Upper mode it rarely achieves real Upper Attacks.

Its slopes are located in the inner zone where the plastic begins, leaving them almost completely out of the contact zone. Seen from the side, the slope of the metal is so vertical that it acts more like a wall than a ramp; there is no real slope capable of lifting the rival consistently. Only on rare occasions, when the opponent falls directly on the inner slope, can it manage to lift them. When it happens, the impact is brutal, but it is infrequent.

Curiously, its predominant playstyle is the Smash Attack. The edge and the lower hook are mega marked and can generate intense impacts, especially in side hits or after bounces. On the other hand, the upper rear hook and the irregularities they generate together are also very aggressive, but carry a super high recoil, making its upper area dangerous for both the rival and the Blade itself.

Having its most aggressive points at the bottom, SolEclipse needs to be played at medium-high heights (70) so that these make direct contact. The problem is that, by loading the weight so high up, this considerably increases the risk of losing control and flying out of the stadium.

On the contrary, if it is lowered too much, its strong points are harder to make contact, while leaving its highest recoil area exposed, becoming even more risky.

Another limiting factor is that its points do not protrude enough from the circumference to easily dig in. It requires a lot of precision and a very specific alignment with the rival to hit correctly, since if the rival is slightly higher or lower, the hits lose effectiveness.

Therefore, depending exclusively on its Upper or its Smash does not give it the consistency needed to stand out.

However, a typical disadvantage of the CX line becomes its greatest strength here. Its high center of gravity causes a constant wobbling that increases the leverage force, as if it were a hammer. So Eclipse shines most when it is allowed to be chaotic and erratic, smashing, pushing, lifting, or crashing from unpredictable angles. This way it can take advantage of any aggressive zone of its shape without depending on a single specific point. Even the recoil of its weakest point transforms into a strength, since it doesn't look for stamina, but rather violent and uncontrolled exchanges.

Even so, its stamina is really good for a CX, sitting at the average of the BX/UX lines, enough to sustain this erratic style.

In short, with an Assist Blade that leaves its lower part as exposed as possible and adds good weight, combined with 70 height Ratchets and erratic Bits, Eclipse can become an incredibly risky but mega effective meteorite.

04Ways to use it

This review covers the part Eclipse

Erratic Attack

On Bits like Kick or even Quake, launched with a lot of power, preferably with a plastic Chip to maximize movement. The chaos, the bounces, and the wobbling increase the probability of devastating impacts.

Aggressive Attack

At 70 height with flat Bits with good control. Less chaotic, more direct which can provide decent battles, although less versatile.

Counter Defense

On small and stationary Bits, easy to push. Allows the rival to smash into it, bounce against walls, and return impacts with super greater intensity. Adjust the tilt according to the rival's height.

Counterattack

On Bits like Point or Hexa. After receiving the impact it can take the rail and return with an Xtreme Dash powered up by its weight and wobbling.

SolEclipse Dual 5-70TK

One of the best CX Stock Combos so far. Thanks to the two modes of Dual it has two ways to be played, but with three different alignments each, so it is crucial to look for the best alignment that better takes advantage of the lower contact points so that Dual becomes a complement and not a hindrance. Based on our tests, they are the following:

  • > Upper / Smash: Perfectly aligning the edges of the Assist with those of the Main. This maximizes the impact force of its main edge and is the one that least obstructs the rear hook.
  • > Upper / Upper: Aligning the divisions of the Assist between the segments of the Main, this way the slope of the plastic guides the rival straight toward the edge and leaves the rear hook well exposed.

On the other hand, Trans Kick allows changing between High and Low height. If it starts in High mode it can unexpectedly change to Low to encourage the erratic behavior, and directly in Low mode it can seek frontal impacts to take more advantage of the lower edge.

The 5 divisions of the Ratchet perfectly complement its shape, and at 70 height it is ideal to take advantage of its entire periphery, so all the parts complement each other quite well. It runs a considerable risk of bursting due to the shape of TransKick, and its stamina isn't that high either, but a well-aligned Assist provides really good battles.

It can definitely still be optimized, but Dual is one of the few Assists that can stand out outside of Heavy and Wheel. So for being a combo straight out of the box it is quite remarkable and mega versatile.

06Combos

1
SolEclipse Heavy 3-60K

Controlled Erratic Attack. Kick allows bounces and strong impacts; 60 reduces the risk of self-KOs.

2
SolEclipse 7-70R

More precise Aggressive Attack. 7 adds stability and lower weight to improve consistency.

3
SolEclipse Heavy 7-70H

Counterattack with good defensive support. Hexa allows receiving and returning impacts with Xtreme Dash, while 7 prevents excessive loss of control.

4
EmperorEclipse Heavy 1-70W

Intense Counter Defense. 1 amplifies the stationary wobble and helps escape from pockets; with enough power it can be devastating.

5
SolEclipse Heavy 2-80Q

Experimental and chaotic combo. Not competitive, but extremely fun and spectacular.
