01Description

SolEclipse is a reversible Main Blade with two modes: Upper (red) and Smash (blue).

In its Upper mode, it is composed of five tilted segments that simulate solar flares. Each segment features three main aggressive zones:

  • > A lower front edge.
  • > A wide hook at the end of the segment, more pronounced at the bottom.
  • > Super marked upper irregularities.

Compared to other Main Blades, its weight distribution is higher to allow the mode change, so its center of gravity is even higher than the rest of the line.

02Performance

Ironically, in Upper mode it rarely achieves real Upper Attacks.

Its slopes are located in the inner zone where the plastic begins, leaving them almost completely out of the contact zone. Seen from the side, the slope of the metal is so vertical that it acts more like a wall than a ramp; there is no real slope capable of lifting the rival consistently. Only on rare occasions, when the opponent falls directly on the inner slope, can it manage to lift them. When it happens, the impact is brutal, but it is infrequent.

Curiously, its predominant playstyle is the Smash Attack. The edge and the lower hook are mega marked and can generate intense impacts, especially in side hits or after bounces. On the other hand, the upper rear hook and the irregularities they generate together are also very aggressive, but carry a super high recoil, making its upper area dangerous for both the rival and the Blade itself.

Having its most aggressive points at the bottom, SolEclipse needs to be played at medium-high heights (70) so that these make direct contact. The problem is that, by loading the weight so high up, this considerably increases the risk of losing control and flying out of the stadium.

On the contrary, if it is lowered too much, its strong points are harder to make contact, while leaving its highest recoil area exposed, becoming even more risky.

Another limiting factor is that its points do not protrude enough from the circumference to easily dig in. It requires a lot of precision and a very specific alignment with the rival to hit correctly, since if the rival is slightly higher or lower, the hits lose effectiveness.

Therefore, depending exclusively on its Upper or its Smash does not give it the consistency needed to stand out.

However, a typical disadvantage of the CX line becomes its greatest strength here. Its high center of gravity causes a constant wobbling that increases the leverage force, as if it were a hammer. So Eclipse shines most when it is allowed to be chaotic and erratic, smashing, pushing, lifting, or crashing from unpredictable angles. This way it can take advantage of any aggressive zone of its shape without depending on a single specific point. Even the recoil of its weakest point transforms into a strength, since it doesn't look for stamina, but rather violent and uncontrolled exchanges.

Even so, its stamina is really good for a CX, sitting at the average of the BX/UX lines, enough to sustain this erratic style.

In short, with an Assist Blade that leaves its lower part as exposed as possible and adds good weight, combined with 70 height Ratchets and erratic Bits, Eclipse can become an incredibly risky but mega effective meteorite.

03Ways to use it

Erratic Attack

On Bits like Kick or even Quake, launched with a lot of power, preferably with a plastic Chip to maximize movement. The chaos, the bounces, and the wobbling increase the probability of devastating impacts.

Aggressive Attack

At 70 height with flat Bits with good control. Less chaotic, more direct which can provide decent battles, although less versatile.

Counter Defense

On small and stationary Bits, easy to push. Allows the rival to smash into it, bounce against walls, and return impacts with super greater intensity. Adjust the tilt according to the rival's height.

Counterattack

On Bits like Point or Hexa. After receiving the impact it can take the rail and return with an Xtreme Dash powered up by its weight and wobbling.
