00Emperor summary

Emperor is a 4.8 g CX Lock Chip.

01Description

Its design features the Emperor’s crown. Being metal, it weighs 4.8 g, roughly 3 grams heavier than a standard plastic chip, though still about 1 gram lighter than Valkyrie.

Its purpose is to concentrate more weight at the center of the Bey, which can help to:

  • > Reduce recoil from impacts
  • > Mitigate the typical over-tilting of the CX line
  • > Prevent loss of control and stay more grounded

However, this central weight also reduces centrifugal force, negatively affecting acceleration, speed, and especially spin time. Because of that, it is not a universal solution, and you need to be very aware of its downsides.

On top of that, placing metal so high up — even protruding from the usual chip profile — greatly increases the risk of imbalance. Alignment between parts becomes critical, since poor alignment can hurt performance instead of improving it.

For this reason, Emperor works best in combos that tend to lose control and need containment, in defensive builds that prioritize weight over stamina, and in Tank setups aiming for maximum mass.

Valkyrie is superior in almost every aspect, but it is far more expensive and harder to obtain. Because of that, Emperor is an excellent daily-use alternative.

Unlike Metal Fight, where metal chips were almost a universal upgrade, in the X system their use is far more situational, since speed and stability are just as valuable as raw weight.

Why does it work this way? Blader's Path explains it step by step: Bey physics, how to build combos and how to test them. See the book
