00SphinxCowl summary
Cowl Sphinx (SphinxCowl by Takara Tomy) is a 32.5 g BX Blade, released in Japan on February 22, 2024.
SphinxCowl is a true desert riddle: unpredictable, dangerous, and fascinating. It may look like a relic from the past, but with a powerful launch it can turn the stadium into a spectacle worthy of a pharaoh. It doesn’t chase perfection or competitive consistency—it lives for pure chaos… and in that chaos lies its fun, unique glory.
01Mythology
It is based on the Sphinx, an iconic figure of Ancient Egypt. The Great Sphinx of Giza is believed to have been carved over 4,500 years ago to guard sacred temples and protect the tombs of the pharaohs.
02Description
Its design is fully inspired by Egyptian art, representing both the Nemes (the pharaohs’ headdress) and the traditional false beard. These elements create a massive amount of irregularities across its entire structure: ridges, hooks, and slopes spread over the top, sides, and base. It is a compact Blade, lightweight with medium stamina, featuring a chaotic silhouette that makes it just as unpredictable as it is eye-catching.
03Performance
Its irregular shape allows it to catch onto opponents that also have ridges or protrusions, leading to chaotic exchanges where both Beys can take damage. No matter where it gets hit from, it always responds with an uneven contact point. This makes it capable of destabilizing, wearing down, hooking, and pushing, but its low weight means it needs good traction and strong launch power to maximize damage and reduce recoil. Its best performance shows up when launched at high speed to intercept the opponent head-on. In those collisions, its irregularities create wild impacts that can surprise even super aggressive Beys. When completely stationary it becomes an easy target, and when too aggressive it lacks the push to act as pure attack. That’s why it shines in counter or semi-aggressive styles, where it can release all of its chaotic energy. Its shape comes with high recoil, and its light weight makes it easy to KO. Against very heavy aggressive Beys it usually gets sent flying, though a powerful launch can still cause surprises. Its biggest struggles are against stationary, high-stamina Beys, which it can’t reliably catch or wear down due to their smoother profiles. Even though it aims for chaos, tips that make it overly unstable with heavy wobble don’t help, since it lacks the weight to crush or lift opponents. It performs better when stabilized, gaining firmer ground contact to boost the power of its hits.
04Ways to use it
On counter tips like Gear Point or semi-aggressive ones like Kick, aim to face the opponent directly, absorb the initial hit, and rebound with unpredictable movement that leads to chaotic clashes.
05Base combo

Visually stunning with its Egyptian theme, but the performance falls short. The height makes it very easy to KO, while Gear Needle is too static and unstable, reducing stamina and shutting down its chaotic playstyle.
06Combos
Ideal for closing in on mobile opponents or intercepting center-campers, unleashing chaos right from the start.
Kick adds unpredictable rebounds that boost its erratic style; the 7 Ratchet adds stability so it doesn’t self-KO as easily.
Waits in the center to counter with Gear Point’s traction, which also encourages chaotic movement after taking hits.
Why does it work this way?
Blader's Path explains it step by step: Bey physics, how to build combos and how to test them.
