00SilverWolf summary

Sterling Wolf (SilverWolf by Takara Tomy) is a 36.6 g UX Blade, released in Japan on October 12, 2024.

SilverWolf is a patient predator that does not look for quick wins, but for slowly wearing down its prey. While it does not have the stamina consistency of WizardRod or ClockMirage, it remains a strong defensive Blade that can still bite back when you least expect it.

There are more reliable options in the current competitive scene, but underestimating SilverWolf is a mistake. When well balanced, escaping this wolf’s fangs is not easy at all.

01Mythology

Based on the white wolf, an animal capable of traveling over 30 miles in a single day without exhaustion, thanks to an efficient metabolism and the ability to maintain a steady trot for hours—slow, constant, and relentless.

02Description

SilverWolf is formed by three wide divisions that evoke the wolf’s tail. These sections angle outward and feature a mostly smoothed perimeter. The front of each segment, on the upper side, is more exposed, forming a pronounced hook followed by a second, subtler hook behind it. Its most distinctive feature is the free-spinning lower plastic layer, also divided into three segments.

Despite being a wide and not very aerodynamic Blade, its weight distribution is focused toward the edges, which boosts its stamina to above-average levels. On the other hand, the metal sits relatively high, making the Blade extremely sensitive to part balancing.

03Performance

Its smoothed and angled shape allows it to deflect and mitigate hits effectively, qualities reinforced by its above-average weight. The free-spinning lower layer partially fulfills its role: it does not cause the opponent to “slip” the way the anime shows, but it does absorb impacts thanks to the plastic.

However, it is a double-edged sword. When taking repeated hits, it acts like a bicycle brake, creating friction that noticeably reduces spin time. On top of that, its constant position changes can disrupt balance, making its stamina less consistent than WizardRod or ClockMirage.

Because of this, Beys that can strike upward directly into the lower disc can wear it down with relative ease. Even so, at mid heights (especially 70), it works well against aggressive Beys that do not maintain constant pressure, letting the plastic absorb isolated hits.

On the upper side, SilverWolf has some hidden offensive potential. When it connects with its exposed contact points, it can land solid hits thanks to its weight. Still, it lacks enough exposure to be effective as a pure attacker, working better as an occasional surprise strike.

Another critical issue is its high center of gravity. With metal concentrated higher than usual, it tends to wobble easily, which can cause floor scrapes or expose the Ratchet.

Overall, it is a Blade with excellent defensive traits, good stamina, and the ability to land surprise hits, but with less reliable endurance than other tanks like WizardRod due to internal disc wear and variable instability.

04Ways to use it

Mobile Defense + Counter Attack

On semi-aggressive or wide round Bits, it can move to evade the opponent while using its stamina, with the chance to look for aggressive hits. It can stay upright to let the lower disc absorb impacts, or be over-tilted to force metal contact when needed.

Shield Defense + Stationary Stamina

While exposing the upper side has risks, tilting it allows it to reflect attacks very effectively, then straighten up and aim to win by spin time.

05Base combo

SilverWolf 3-80FB

A great out-of-the-box combo. Free Ball provides excellent stamina and strong burst resistance, while height 70 perfectly matches its defensive traits. It is ready to show what the wolf can do—you just need to balance the Ratchet properly to maximize spin time.

06Combos

1
SilverWolf 3-60FB

Classic stationary defense combo. The key is proper balancing. It allows early tilting for defense, then staying upright thanks to Free Ball.

2
SilverWolf 9-70GB

Mobile defense. Gear Ball lets it dance around the opponent, stay hard to catch, and keep good stamina, with occasional attack potential.

3
SilverWolf 9-60U

A more aggressive take on the previous combo. Trades some stamina for increased offensive mobility.

4
SilverWolf 1-70H

Counter-attack combo with strong defensive support. It can be played upright, tilted, or chaotic depending on the situation. When well balanced, it adapts to many matchups.
