00DranStrike summary

Strike Dran (DranStrike by Takara Tomy) is a 41 g BX Blade, released in Japan on May 16, 2026.

DranStrike has obvious flaws: it accelerates little, loses speed quickly, wobbles too much, and demands a super specific balance between power and control to work correctly.

But when you achieve it, it releases a level of impact that is, literally, extraordinary! It showed us something we hadn’t seen before; it is more spectacular than any other. However, it is so picky to use that in consistency it falls far short of SharkScale or even AeroPegasus.

Even so, it has enough potential to stay relevant in the hands of players capable of mastering it, who will be ecstatic about its more than impressive battles, tense from its huge risks, and happy with how fun it is to see in action. So Jaxon wasn’t lying when he said he would do something never seen before!

01Mythology

It is based on a dragon, a mythological beast whose skin is said to be as smooth as silk at birth, and as they grow it hardens until it becomes incredibly solid, resistant, and capable of repelling magic.

02Description

DranStrike is divided into six wings, three large and three small. These latter ones protrude underneath and form a hook between the metal and the plastic. The rest have a subtle central edge accompanied by a descending diagonal that points toward the center, while on the upper part they have an upward-tilted bevel.

Its main feature is belonging to the BX Expand line, so its metal continues toward a central ring that makes it one of the heavy weight Beys of the entire generation with 41 grams. A large part of that weight is concentrated in the upper zone, giving it a super high center of gravity. Plus, its diameter is considerably small for current standards.

03Performance

Without beating around the bush, DranStrike is a metallic wrecking ball! Its huge weight concentrated in a compact structure allows it to generate dry and brutal impacts. It can push with its wide side walls or connect much more savage hits with the lower hooks of its small wings, which are its most dangerous contact points.

However, that same weight distribution is also the source of almost all its problems. By concentrating so much mass in the center and having such a small diameter, it generates less centrifugal force than other heavy weight Blades. So it struggles to accelerate, loses spin speed quickly, and has little action time to take advantage of its enormous power.

Add to this its high center of gravity, making it prone to wobbling easily, and once it over-tilts it is incredibly difficult for it to recover an upright posture. The problem gets worse because the small wings protrude below the Blade, so every time it wobbles there is a high probability that they crash into the ground or the rail, causing a huge loss of energy.

That is why the height is extremely important; if you lower it way too much you will increase the risk of scraping the ground and you also hide its most dangerous impact points. If you raise it a lot, you expose its highest recoil zones, worsen the wobbling, and make it easier to destabilize. Its best performance is usually found at medium heights, equivalent to 60 Ratchets with standard height Bits. It also benefits from Ratchets that help cover the lower little wings, with 3 being one of the best options to reduce this problem.

Another important detail is that it heavily depends on maintaining a mega high rotation speed on its own axis. The faster it spins, the stronger its impacts are and the less recoil it suffers. But as it loses revolutions—something that happens fast due to its weight distribution—its hits weaken and the recoil increases considerably.

It also proved to be especially sensitive to the use of the rail. Moving such a concentrated and heavy mass through an Xtreme Dash consumes much more energy than usual, so Bits with wide gears usually hurt it. On the other hand, standard, small, or free-spinning gears allow it to better conserve its energy and take advantage of its impact power for a longer time.

It should be noted that it is much more effective when it maintains an upright posture, since launching it too tilted not only reduces the force transfer of its impacts by changing the impact direction, but also makes it much more vulnerable to being smashed and hitting the ground with its lower wings. So the key is to find the minimum tilt necessary to avoid an immediate Xtreme Dash, allowing it to recover an upright posture when the time comes to attack.

04Ways to use it

Aggressive Attack

Needs to find a delicate balance between mobility, power, control, and tilt. Bits that are too aggressive increase the risk of wear from the rail and make it harder to control the launch, while Bits that are too small might not give it enough acceleration. The ideal is to find a combo that allows you to launch it with maximum power maintaining control and a relatively upright posture.

Counter Defense

On small Bits that allow extremely powerful launches so that the rival takes tremendous damage upon crashing into it, to later finish them off with its bounces which are usually incredibly savage. Furthermore, due to its wobbling, it has a curious tendency to bounce upward and drop back onto the rival, as if giving them a tremendous headbutt!

Tank

With Bits with great ground traction, particularly Hexa, it can take advantage of its great traction and tendency to return to the center with great firmness. The idea is to let it gain momentum on the edges and return like a pendulum to hit stationary or semi-aggressive rivals with all its mass. However, against completely aggressive Beys it can suffer quite a bit by being repeatedly pushed toward the rail.

05Base combo

DranStrike 4-50FF

The main problem is that both the lower wings of the Blade and the protrusions of 4 have a high chance of scraping. Additionally, the 50 height hides some of its most important impact points and limits its offensive potential. Free Flat does work well by offering good balance between power, control, and low stamina loss. Like any attack Bey, it can do crazy things just by virtue of being aggressive, but by improving the Ratchet you will make it more effective and consistent.

06Combos

1
DranStrike 3-60FF

Aggressive Attack combo that covers the Blade’s lower weak points, improves overall balance, and reduces wear from the rail. FF gives control, aggressiveness, and maneuverability, still the tip must adapt to your playstyle, use what suits you!

2
DranStrike 3-60L

A more controlled Aggressive Attack combo since Level helps maintain a more upright posture and improves force transfer in impacts due to its great ground traction, with little tendency to go wild.

3
DranStrike 1-60W

Counter Defense combo, where we take advantage of the fact that Wedge is easy to move, favors savage bounces, and allows extremely powerful launches. Furthermore, its small gear minimizes energy drain in case of touching the rail.

4
DranStrike 3-60H

Tank combo designed to take advantage of its huge weight. Seeks to stay close to the center and smash into stationary or semi-aggressive rivals through constant impacts. Against aggressive Beys, it is usually better to force a more aggressive style than trying to defend passively.

Why does it work this way? Blader's Path explains it step by step: Bey physics, how to build combos and how to test them. See the book
