00DranBuster summary

Buster Dran (DranBuster by Takara Tomy) is a 36.4 g UX Blade, released in Japan on March 30, 2024.

DranBuster is not a Bey for the weak; it is for warriors who dare to tame dragons. Its power is as great as its risk, but in precise hands it can turn the stadium into a field of pure destruction. Many will choose the safer route with options like HoverWyvern, but if you are brave and enjoy challenges with big rewards, DranBuster is the treasure you are looking for.

01Mythology

It is based on a dragon and a colossal sword. One of the most famous references is Cloud’s Buster Sword from Final Fantasy VII, an iconic weapon known for its massive size and destructive power.

02Description

Its structure resembles an isosceles triangle with a prominent tip that represents the sword, concentrating most of the weight there, which makes it unstable and gives it poor stamina. In addition to the main upper edge, it has two smaller edges right next to it on the lower section, extending into a straight line with a central hook. On the opposite side of the main edge, there is a wide protrusion that simulates the weapon’s handle. It is a UX Blade, with metal distributed toward the extremes and a noticeable weight well above average.

03Performance

Its purpose is clear: eliminate the opponent with a few critical hits before its short lifespan runs out. The main edge is its deadliest hit since it concentrates the most mass, but its other protrusions and edges are also quite strong, so no matter where it lands, it will cause serious damage. Fortunately, its weight neutralizes part of the recoil, allowing it to unleash brutal attacks. Aggressive Bits are its best partner, momentum is essential to maximize impact. It can be funny to use it on more stationary Bits that make it drift toward the center and attack without control, but I would not use that as a main strategy, more like something for fun since it does not have the stamina to wait, it has to hunt for the hit. Its performance depends entirely on precision: landing one hit can decide the match, but missing the first two could cost the entire battle. In general, there will not be much difference in spin time between Bits, so speed and aggression are fully up to the Blader and how much risk they want to take. Ratchet balance is more decisive for its spin time, you can gain valuable seconds and control with good balancing. It is also fun to load everything toward the sword to maximize impact at the cost of control. As you can see, DranBuster adapts to the player, and if they synchronize, it becomes a brutal weapon.

04Ways to use it

Smash Attack

Pure direct offense. The level of aggression depends entirely on the Blader, the key is precision and control.

WARNING! DranBuster is an extreme precision weapon. Its massive power comes with a very high difficulty curve. This is not a Bey for everyone: it requires practice, control, and the courage to accept risk, especially in an environment where newer Beys outweigh it, so keeping it competitive demands real skill. Over time, the edges tend to deform and smooth out, reducing their impact potential.

05Base combo

DranBuster 1-60A

Fully focused on ending the battle in one or two hits if you align the Ratchet with the sword. It can also be flipped to prioritize stamina and control, sacrificing some power. Accel is hard to control due to its wide gears, but a well-placed hit can be devastating. If the Blader gets comfortable, this combo is ready to blow up the stadium.

DranBuster 1-70LR

The heavy Ratchet increases edge power when aligned, while Low Rush adds stability and control at a good height. Mastering it will make you feel like Jaxon dragging everyone in his path.

Why does it work this way? Blader's Path explains it step by step: Bey physics, how to build combos and how to test them. See the book
