00Ratchet 8 summary

Ratchet 8 comes in two heights: 8-70 (7.7 g), and 8-80 (8.1 g).

Ratchet 8, with its large size and weight, manages to maximize stamina and mobility like no other, with its due risks, but it is an excellent addition to the repertoire to amplify specific playstyles.

01Description

Features the shape of a perfect octagon that extends downward like a barrier. Each vertex slightly protrudes both downward and outward, giving it a wide and very marked silhouette. Currently, it is the largest and heaviest Ratchet available.

02General properties

By extending downward it reduces the center of gravity and acts as an excellent stabilizer. Additionally, its large diameter maximizes centrifugal force, allowing it to reach better spin times, greater acceleration, movement, and impact force.

However, being so exposed it is easy to hit, and its edges generate considerable recoil, which increases the risk of bursting compared to 7, and it is easier to push due to its higher inertia. Although with a similar risk of scraping the ground in case of over-tilting.

So defense is not its strong suit, but mobile and stamina combos definitely are.

Thus, it works especially well on wide Blades that manage to cover it, like Aero Pegasus or Wizard Rod, since they reduce its exposure, mitigating the risk of bursting while taking maximum advantage of its stability, acceleration, and spin time.

Conversely, very small or light Blades will not benefit from it, leaving it much more exposed and increasing the ease with which they get launched out of the stadium.

03Variants by height

  • > 8-60 (?): Yet to be released, but it should provide greater stability and be harder to burst by being harder to hit, but riskier regarding ground scrapes.
  • > 8-70 (7.7 g): Medium height. Great middle ground that avoids ground scrapes, and it is still possible to hide it so it doesn't get hit so easily.
  • > 8-80 (?): Yet to be released, but it should be the least prone to scraping the ground but the one with the highest risk of bursting by remaining much more exposed.
