00Ratchet 0 summary

Ratchet 0 comes in three heights: 0-60 (6.8 g), 0-70 (6.9 g), and 0-80 (7.6 g).

Ratchet 0 is a paradox: the smoothest on its periphery, but the most exposed on its bottom part. I wouldn't say it achieves a good equilibrium to balance risk and reward, since the risks carry more weight this time. Ironically, Ratchet 9 turns out to be smoother, more stable, and safer than 0.

01Description

It is one of the widest and heaviest Ratchets in the game. In theory, it seeks to have zero divisions, so seen from the front it is completely circular and smooth.

However, looking from the side, three marked and prominent downward protrusions can be distinguished.

02General properties

Its wide periphery can cover weak points of the Blade and, being so smooth, it cushions the rival's impacts equally across the entire circumference. Additionally, its mega great weight distributed toward the ends improves the overall stamina and stability of the combo, providing super great defensive support.

The problem is its lower protrusions, extremely exposed, which generate a savage recoil. While the rival's hits can damage it and make it easy to burst, the real danger comes from scraping the ground or the rails.

Thus, all the benefit of its smooth surface is lost due to the high risk of those protrusions.

Curiously, it is one of the few cases where the 80 version turns out to be the least risky and most recommended; sitting further from the ground and featuring plastic that reduces its exposure, it can be more efficient, both for defending from high up and for smashing. Meanwhile, 60 and 70 have their protrusions even more exposed and are even more dangerous.

It was probably designed this way to prevent it from being a totally broken part, but the disadvantages outweigh the benefits, making it super difficult to use safely.

In comparison, 7 offers more weight and stability, 9 better stamina and smoothness, and 1 superior balance. Therefore, it stays out of competitive contention.

03Variants by height

  • > 0-60 (6.8 g): The lowest and most prone to scraping the ground, but which better hides the protrusions to prevent the rival from hitting them and provides really good stability. It is among the heaviest at this height.
  • > 0-70 (6.9 g): Intermediate height and the most risky: it lacks the plastic that mitigates the 80's recoil, nor the coverage offered by the 60, leaving it totally exposed.
  • > 0-80 (7.6 g): One of the heaviest versions in the system. The internal circular plastic reduces the exposure of the protrusions and mitigates recoil. Plus, it tightens with a lot of force, so it's not easy to burst. It can be interesting in smashing combos, although clashes with the ground or the rail continue to be fatal.
