00CobaltDragoon summary
CobaltDragoon is a 37.8 g BX Blade, released in Japan on July 13, 2024.
CobaltDragoon is a worthy heir to the legendary Dragoon. Its power, stability, and aggressive style lock it in as one of the most threatening Blades in the current metagame. It arrived to balance WizardRod’s dominance and prove that left-spin Beys can be a real menace in this system. As more left-spins release, we’ll be able to explore new sides of Dragoon that aren’t visible yet. For now, it’s a perfect tribute to the dragon that started the entire Beyblade legend, roaring back to life in the X era.
01Mythology
It’s based on Seiryu, the Blue Dragon that protects the East, whose temple, Kiyozumi, is located in the city of Kyoto. This is a direct homage to Tyson’s Dragoon from the first generation.
02Description
It’s the first left-spin Bey of the generation. Its shape is close to a square due to its four long divisions, each with two main contact points: one at the front on the lower section, and another in the middle, with a hook on the upper part.
When viewed from underneath, you can see an uneven weight distribution, with more metal concentrated on one side. This creates a noticeable imbalance and wobbling during the final spins. It’s a heavy Blade with solid stamina when properly balanced.
03Performance
CobaltDragoon is a beast in the stadium. Its high weight and clearly defined contact points turn it into a living wall, capable of stopping almost any opponent dead in their tracks.
In aggressive movement, it can deliver devastating hits, especially on high-traction tips that fully take advantage of its power. Interestingly, its natural imbalance makes it easier to “jump” the rail, recreating its iconic Dragonic Break from the anime. This is perfect for reaching opponents trying to hide on the opposite side.
On stationary tips, it’s extremely hard to knock out. However, as it reaches the end of its spin, that instability catches up to it. The wobble cuts its spin time and makes equalization harder, to the point where even Beys on flat tips can steal the last spin in these situations.
That’s why tips with strong “life after death,” like Elevate, are ideal. They keep it upright and turn that wobble into a final push that secures the win. In fact, this trait turned it into the natural counter to WizardRod. Still, it needs a strong enough launch to activate its equalization. Soft launches like in the Burst era just don’t work here. Its weight and wobble kill its spin fast if you don’t launch with power.
And since it’s left-spin, recoil isn’t much of a concern. This lets it run parts that would be easy burst risks in same-spin matchups.
Lightweight Beys on Elevate can give it trouble, since they don’t have enough mass to push it. Instead, they end up taking its energy head-on.
04Ways to use it
On super aggressive tips, use its weight and direct clashes against right-spin Beys to push and knock opponents out.
On tips that keep it upright, like Elevate, and smoother Ratchets, it can equalize energy and win by last spin.
On tips with strong rebounds, use the rail whiplashes to counter hard, without worrying about losing control.
05Base combo

The tip offers excellent control and traction, but the Ratchet throws it off balance, hurting its endgame spins. It’s not awful, but there are much better options.
06Combos
Powerful and stable. Vortex gives it the grip it needs to land precise head-on hits.
A curious combo where its left spin reduces burst risk. It delivers lethal counterattacks and a better stance for endgame equalization.
More weight and added unpredictability to boost its rail whiplashes.
The ultimate combo against WizardRod, combining mobility, acceleration, and top-tier equalization performance.
Why does it work this way?
