00LeonFang summary

Fang Leon (LeonFang by Takara Tomy) is a 37.9 g CX Blade, released in Japan on November 13, 2025.

LeonFang does not offer anything particularly interesting or new. Its defensive style is limited and, even within that role, it fails to stand out. Among the Leon Beys of this generation, it is likely the weakest: designed as an attack variant that ended up being the frailest of the three. Its biggest appeal is that it comes bundled with the Nintendo Switch game, making it a curious collector piece. But in battle, its fangs are a disgrace. This is definitely not the kind of feline I would trust with the hunt of the day.

01Mythology

LeonFang is inspired by the lion, considered the laziest of the big cats, spending up to 20 hours resting. And even though it is called the king of the jungle, its real habitat is the African savanna.

02Description

This review covers the part Fang

LeonFang is divided into four segments. Each one has a profile that first slopes outward and then returns toward the center, forming a “\<=\>”-shaped silhouette. This design does not create walls meant to push, but instead works to deflect impacts. Its only slightly aggressive point is a lower rear edge that sticks out just a bit from the perimeter. On the underside, it features spikes inspired by lion fangs, although these remain fully inside the circle and, once assembled, are nullified by the Assist Blade. Viewed from below, its structure resembles a shell: the metal perimeter is thin and the weight is concentrated on the upper section. Additionally, each segment has cutouts at the extremes that reduce edge mass, affecting both centrifugal force and spin time.

03Performance

This review covers the part Fang

LeonFang is a clearly defensive Blade. Its “\>”-shaped silhouette allows it to mitigate impacts relatively well, reflecting aggressive attacks despite not being very heavy, achieving decent results against offensive Beys. Its main weakness is its high weight distribution, which makes it prone to wobbling, especially in late spins, where it loses energy fast and becomes highly vulnerable to knockouts. The metal chip can help compensate, but it often hurts stamina even more. Because of this, LeonFang benefits from Bits that can tilt slightly at the start to reduce knockout risk, then straighten up to stay more stable toward the end of the match. Offensively, it lacks real walls or aggressive edges, and its only “dangerous” point relies too much on perfect alignment to deal meaningful damage, making its attack potential situational and unreliable. Its stamina is only around average, so rounded or stationary Beys give it serious trouble. Overall, Fang is a Blade with very limited versatility. It performs acceptably against purely aggressive Beys, but is outclassed by stationary Blades, left-spin types, and pure defense setups. Even within its own niche, there are more reliable options like Might, Flame, or even Reaper. Interestingly, it shares many similarities with WolfHunt, although LeonFang is even lighter and smoother. While Hunt leans toward offense, Fang almost fully retreats into defense, without truly excelling at it.

04Ways to use it

This review covers the part Fang

Stationary Defense

In low combos with high-traction Bits like Ball or Under Needle. It can reflect hits from aggressive opponents, and a slight initial tilt helps deflect early attacks.

Evasive Defense

On Bits with moderate movement around the stadium, baiting the opponent. Not its ideal style, since staying near the edges greatly increases knockout risk, but it can work if you keep it away from danger zones.

05Base combo

LeonFang Turn 4-60A

A combo that goes completely against what LeonFang needs. Turn could complement its defense, but Accel is fully attack-oriented, and on a Blade that lacks those traits, it is a mutual waste. Even in Attack mode, Turn only speeds up energy loss. The result is a pointless and quite poor combo, among the worst overall.

06Combos

1
LeonFang Heavy 9-60B

Stationary defense combo. It uses Ball’s traction to stay grounded, with a slight initial push to dodge or shove. You can run 7-60 and Hexa if you want to avoid tilting, but stamina is lower and it can lose control during counterattacks.

2
EmperorFang Heavy 7-70UN

Fully stationary defense. Better ground support and stronger resistance against heavy attackers, though it sacrifices even more of its already limited stamina.

3
LeonFang Heavy 9-60E

Evasive defense. Elevate lets it dodge with smooth movement while staying fairly upright to reduce wobbling. It works, but it is risky near the edges.
