00LeonCrest summary

Crest Leon (LeonCrest by Takara Tomy) is a 34.8 g UX Blade, released in Japan on August 10, 2024.

LeonCrest is like a truck tire: rough, tough, and dangerous when it has speed or when you crash into its spikes. It’s not the dominant predator of the stadium, since in competitive play it has clear weaknesses that many rivals can exploit without much trouble. That said, aggressive Beys can really suffer against its claws and rebounds. It’s not a super consistent Blade, and like a true lion it can fall asleep—but if it’s in the mood to hunt, its prey is going to have a bad time.

Got it, continuing exactly in the same style and tone we’ve been using 👍 Here’s PHOENIXRUDDER, adapted for the English Beyblade community and keeping the same structure and formatting.

01Mythology

Based on the lion, which unlike other felines, can sleep up to 20 hours a day, saving its energy for very specific moments of intense activity—mainly hunting and defending its territory.

02Description

LeonCrest is divided into seven wide segments that form a spiral pattern, evoking both a whirlwind and a lion’s mane. Its diameter is smaller than usual, but from the side it is noticeably thicker, since it uses a two-layer structure: a lower plastic layer and an upper metal layer. This makes it taller than most BX and UX, with the metal positioned higher than normal. Its design is meant to act like a defensive wall, stopping and returning impacts.

03Performance

LeonCrest is a Blade with very unique behavior. Its wide, segmented shape lets it latch onto opponents and generate strong rebounds, while the lower plastic absorbs a large portion of incoming damage, and the upper metal returns hits effectively thanks to its edges.

However, this design comes with three drawbacks:

  • > Medium–low stamina: its small size, poor aerodynamics, and thick profile mean that even though it can take hits, it falls short in spin time.
  • > High center of gravity: with the metal placed higher, it tends to wobble and over-tilt in the late game, losing stability fast.
  • > Medium weight: this makes it easy to push around and knock out of the stadium.

Even so, its whirlwind-like shape reflects impacts with surprising efficiency, letting it conserve energy well during direct clashes. Because of this, its defensive potential really shines when you over-tilt it at launch, letting the metal grind and hit first, then letting it stand back up so the plastic layer comes into play and cushions impacts.

That said, using it fully stationary is usually rough because it’s so easy to push. Still, you can turn that weakness into a strength by using small Bits that look for intentional rebounds, allowing it to counterattack or break the opponent’s attack rhythm. Lowering its center of gravity is absolutely key to reducing wobble and improving its overall performance.

Where it completely struggles is against stamina and pure defense Beys. It has trouble reaching Ratchets for Bursts, lacks the weight to move heavy Beys, gets outspun easily, and left-spin Beys beat it through spin equalization.

04Ways to use it

Counter Defense

On small Bits, aiming to rebound hard when taking hits and send damage back. Super effective against attack-type Beys.

Counter Attack

On counter-style Bits, focusing on strong early impacts followed by evasion. Needs powerful launches to deal the most damage right away.

Mobile Defense + Smash Attack: On semi-aggressive Bits and very low combos, it can bullfight the opponent and return solid hits. Great versus other mobile Beys.

Shield Defense

Thanks to its spiral, dish-like shape, when tilted it can deflect attacks with good damage and moderate recoil.

05Base combo

LeonCrest 7-60GN

The Ratchet is excellent, but Gear Needle does it no favors at all. It leaves LeonCrest completely exposed, hurts its stamina, and makes it useless in the center. It can occasionally counter through rebounds or rail hits, but it’s inconsistent and makes the Bey look pretty bad overall.

06Combos

1
LeonCrest 7-60LR

Mobile defense with offensive potential. Agile, versatile, and surprising; it can even stand a chance against some stationary Beys.

2
LeonCrest 4-50W

Extremely low counter-defense combo. It bounces like a spiked ball, keeps energy decently, and punishes attack Beys. Best launched with a strong tilt.

3
LeonCrest 9-60GF

Chaotic counterattack combo. It can rebound, ride the rail, or land hits right from the start. Risky, but super surprising against mobile Beys.

Why does it work this way? Blader's Path explains it step by step: Bey physics, how to build combos and how to test them. See the book
