01Description

Perseus is a tribute to Gravity Perseus from Metal Fight, hiding a hexagon in its design as a nod to the old Face Bolts.

It is divided into three metallic segments whose design evokes Greek architecture. Each segment has an elongated “M”-like shape, covered by a convex black plastic layer that is almost triangular. The vertices of this cover extend above the metal, becoming the highest points of the Blade.

The result is a very unconventional silhouette, with an extremely irregular upper section full of hooks and waves where most of the weight is concentrated, and a lower section pulled toward the center, smoother and easily covered by Assist Blades.

02Performance

Despite its complex appearance, PerseusDark is a relatively simple Blade to understand in battle. Its playstyle is based on a clear duality:

  • > Hit with its upper section
  • > Defend with its lower section

Its main issue is that much of its metal sits higher than usual, even for a CX. This makes it highly vulnerable to being lifted or knocked out of the stadium. Combined with its poor aerodynamics, its stamina is low, and the recoil generated by its upper hooks does not help either. Because of this, it absolutely needs compensation to stand out in battle. Fortunately, Heavy and a metal Chip are enough to mitigate a large part of these risks.

It is worth noting that despite its aggressive silhouette, it does not shine in purely offensive combos. Its contact points are too high and require heavy tilting to be exposed, which puts it at serious risk of being crushed. On top of that, its true strength is not Upper Attack, but Smash Attack, which works best through lateral hits.

It can also be played defensively, but if it takes direct hits to its upper section while stationary, the recoil can be devastating. If you tilt it to expose the lower section, the knockout risk goes right back up.

For this reason, PerseusDark benefits greatly from erratic or semi-aggressive styles. Movement allows it to dodge, reflect hits, or attack, especially on erratic tips that make it even more unpredictable. This lets it strike with its entire irregular perimeter while actively switching between offense and defense.

03Ways to use it

Erratic Attack

On semi-aggressive tips like Kick. The chaotic movement lets it land hits from unpredictable angles, use its weight for strong impacts, and break the opponent’s rhythm, whether attacking, defending, or evading.

Counter-Defense

On small, mostly stationary tips. It waits for the opponent’s hit and uses tilt to make them crash into its critical or lateral zones. Its tendency to be pushed becomes an advantage, as it can rebound with extra force.

Counter Attack

On tips like Point or Hexa. These allow it to switch between mobility and stability, using the Xtreme Dash to reposition and land critical hits, with the option to evade or defend depending on the situation.

Why does it work this way? Blader's Path explains it step by step: Bey physics, how to build combos and how to test them. See the book
