Cerberus

It is based on Cerberus, the monstrous hound that guarded the entrance to Hades in Greek mythology and kept the dead from escaping. The best-known version gives him three heads and a serpent for a tail. Heracles was ordered to capture him as the final one of his Twelve Labors.
