00Needle summary

Needle is a 2 g defense Bit.

Needle is a super specific defensive Bit. Its capacity to resist impacts is real and surprising if it receives the hit at the right angle, but outside of that scenario it becomes quite risky. So with more versatile and consistent options like Ball, or Hexa, its use is totally overshadowed.

01Description

A Bit with a sharp conical tip.

02General properties

Thanks to its minimal contact surface, it tends to stay static in the center of the stadium, offering great individual stamina. Its performance entirely depends on the angle it is at and the type of impact received, fulfilling two main functions against aggressive Beys:

  • > In an upright position: It is easy to move with each hit, since it doesn't have lateral support. However, this can be advantageous against aggressive Beys: by being shot out and taking time to return to the center, it breaks the rival's attack chain, making them waste energy and lose stamina before you do.
  • > In a tilted position: Generates small circles while the Blade wobbles, acting as a shield that deflects frontal impacts. The sharp tip slightly digs into the ground, working as a cane that stabilizes the Bey and allows it to resist frontal attacks.

So its main potential lies in shield defense, and on super heavy Blades that smash from above with their wobbling.

However, its biggest problem is energy conservation, since compared to round Bits, the drain after each impact is much more noticeable. Even if it manages to stay inside the stadium, aggressive Beys can quickly drain its stamina.

On the other hand, the tilt only works if the hit arrives at the front of the Blade, since it leaves the sides and the back exposed—zones where it is extremely vulnerable to being launched out of the stadium, scraping the ground, or bursting by exposing the Ratchet.

Why does it work this way? Blader's Path explains it step by step: Bey physics, how to build combos and how to test them. See the book
