It is based on a medieval knight, an elite warrior closely associated with mounted combat. The concept of chivalry grew from this equestrian role and eventually combined military training, loyalty, social standing, and codes of conduct. Armor was used in war and tournaments, but it also displayed the wearer’s identity and rank.
